Adium is an amazing application. You can sign in MSN Messenger, Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Jabber, Bonjour, AOL, Jabu Jabu, ICQ, Google Talk, Live Journal, Lotus Sametime, Mobile Me, MySpace IM, Novell GroupWise, QQ, SIP/SIMPLE, Yahoo! Japan, and Zephyr in this application. You can have an organized contact list with subtitles of each kind of conversation program.
Keepvid allows you to download copyright material from youtube onto itunes, or just to view on the computer. It's easy to use but I would not reccomend it because it's probably not legal. If you just choose a video on youtube, copy the URL and paste it onto Keepvid, then you can download it. I may have misjudged it but I'm not sure about it. "keepvid.com allows you to save videos from certain websites such as YouTube. The website itself is legal. How you use it may or may not be legal. If you use it to save files for your own personal use that are not protected under copyright law, or for which the copyright holder allows free distribution of the material, then you are in the clear. If you use the website to make copies of someone's video to distribute for commercial purposes, then you may be violating copyright law."

I think that this is a very useful application because sometimes I try to download something, but in the wrong format so I am not able to and then I get annoyed. What you have to do is put the URL of the thing you want to convert into the site, then what format you want to convert it to, and then your email. Then you press convert. This application isn't very useful for me because it doesn't support any mac files like Print Shop or Pages. This is what I would need it for because I don't have a mac at home. It will work for simple conversions, but it is a rather long process and you have to give an email address. Zamzar is useful but it could be improved.
SaveVid.com is a free website which gives you the ability to download videos from streaming video sites such as youtube, Google videos, and Metacafe into FLV, AVI, MOV, MPG, or MP4 formats. Where is says "URL" at the top of the page, you just copy and paste the URL of a video clip. After this, you choose what format you want to download the video, and I suggest you to choose a .mp4 file as you can then insert the video straight into iTunes. What I like about this tool is that it allows you to download videos really fast just by copying and pasting the URL. However, I do not know if downloading on this website is illegal or for personal use so please only use it after reading the Privacy page. On the other side, you can use this website for educational purposes at school, which I think is excellent because then you can edit these downloaded videos on iMovie and play with them.
Quicktime is a basic application that you can use on both windows and macs. However with the pro version (which you have to pay for) you are then allowed to convert Movie Files or Audio files into .aif files(which work on both windows and mac's), mp4 files, etc. So if you downloaded a song off of youtube and only want the audio without the video, you can convert the movie into an .aif file and then open it in iTunes. Quicktime is very easy to use and works well, though it's converting capability is limited.
